Print & Packaging

Print and packaging design in Bangkok

Print and packaging design, with or without the printing

We design print work and packaging, and we can handle the printing too. You choose. Take the files to your own printer, or let us manage the whole job and deliver the finished product.

Two ways to work

Design only. You get the finished artwork, packaged properly, and you take it to whichever printer you like.

Design and print. We handle the printing, check the proofs, and deal with the printer so you do not have to. The printing is invoiced with the job.

If this is your first print job, design and print means we handle the printer and proofing for you. Once you have a printer you trust, take the files and run it yourself. We do not tie you to our printers and never will.

Who is responsible for what

On any job we print, you approve the final artwork before production. That approved artwork is the reference for the content, layout and details you supplied.

Where colour, trim or registration need to meet an agreed production standard, the printer’s approved production proof or specification is the reference. If the finished job falls outside that agreed specification, we deal with the printer.

If something in the content was wrong on the artwork you approved, a phone number, a price, a spelling, that is yours. So read it properly.

On design only jobs, printing is between you and your printer. If they have a question about the artwork or the file specification we supplied, we will answer it.

What you get

Every job is handed over as a full Adobe package with the working file, linked images, and any font files we are licensed to supply. Where a font cannot legally be packaged, we include its name and source.

The package gives another designer or a suitably equipped printer the source files needed to continue the job. Alongside it you get print ready PDFs prepared for production, with bleed and crop marks set up for the process being used.

Because you have the working files, you are not tied to us. Another designer can pick the job up later.

What we design

Business cards.

Flyers and leaflets. Single or double sided, folded or flat.

Brochures and catalogues. Multi page, properly laid out, with the pagination worked out for how the job will actually be bound.

Menus. Food and drink, including laminated and reprintable formats, and versions in more than one language.

Roll up banners and pull ups. For events, shopfronts and exhibitions.

Stickers and labels. Product labels, seals, window graphics.

Packaging. Boxes, pouches, sleeves and product labels.

Packaging, and what you need to bring

Packaging is different from other print work, because a lot of what goes on the box is not a design decision.

Your barcode, manufacturer details, country of origin, distributor information, usage instructions, certification marks and any regulatory text all come from you or from your compliance agency. Every market has its own requirements, and the rules for a product sold in the EU are not the rules for one sold in Thailand.

What we do is place the content you supply into the packaging design, following the specifications and instructions you provide.

Before we start, send us:

  • Your barcode
  • All required regulatory and legal text for every market you sell into, with any size or placement requirements
  • Manufacturer, distributor and country of origin details
  • Any certification marks you must display
  • The dieline from your production company, or the exact dimensions and material

If your production company has a dieline, always use theirs. Designing to a guessed shape and finding out later is an expensive mistake.

Read your artwork properly before approving it

Worth saying plainly, because a content error found after printing can mean paying to print the job again.

You are responsible for checking the content. Every phone number, every price, every email address, every spelling, every opening hour. We may point something out if we notice it, but we are designers, not proofreaders, and we do not know that your new number ends in a 7 rather than a 1.

Once you approve the artwork, that is the content we send to print. If a phone number, price or spelling was wrong in the artwork you approved, the reprint is at your cost.

Read it out loud, and have someone else check it too. Reading aloud catches errors that reading silently does not.

Prices

Prices depend on the format, the number of pages and how much artwork is involved. Rough guide:

ItemFrom
Business card4,000 THB
Flyer or leaflet5,000 THB
Menu8,000 THB
Roll up banner5,000 THB
Product label8,000 THB
Brochure or catalogue12,000 THB
Packaging15,000 THB

Printing is quoted separately, because it depends entirely on quantity, stock and finish. A thousand business cards and ten thousand are not the same job.

Already a website or branding client? Print work is quoted at a reduced rate.

If you do not have a logo yet

If your logo or branding is still being developed, settle that before designing the print work around it. Design the cards before the logo is final and you pay for it twice.

If you need both, we settle the logo first and then apply it consistently across the print work.

Questions about print and packaging

Business cards and flyers, a few days. Brochures and packaging, one to two weeks, depending on how much content there is and how quickly feedback comes back.

Yes. Send whatever you have, ideally the vector logo and your colour codes. If all you have is a low quality image, we can redraw it properly first.

Design work, anywhere. Printing is easiest in Bangkok, where we know the printers and can check proofs in person. Outside Bangkok, take the files to a local printer and we will answer any questions they have about our artwork.

On any job we print, you approve the artwork before production. Check it carefully, because that approved artwork is the reference for everything you supplied.

Yes. We produce artwork in Thai, English and French. The working languages on the project itself are English and French.

Yes, if the files are usable. Send them over and we will tell you whether they can be adapted or need rebuilding.

You are, or your compliance agency is. We place the content you approve and supply. We do not check regulatory completeness, certify products or advise on regulations.
